Red Wings – Devils game highlights

Hossa scored two goals and Osgood made an amazing save

By Shannon Paul

It was an exciting game that included two goals from Marian Hossa and one from Kirk Maltby — his first of this season.

Saturday night’s game against the New Jersey Devils also helped prove Chris Osgood’s place among great goalies in the league.

Osgood’s remarkable stick save marked the 369th win of his career, moving him into a tie position with Tom Barrasso for 14th place on the NHL’s career goalie wins list. It was a close call that was nothing short of amazing.

There was also a very long fight between Darren McCarty and New Jersey’s David Clarkson only two minutes into the first period. Later in the game, play halted when Devils’ Brian Gionta slammed hard into the corner boards as a result from a hit from Red Wings’ Derek Meech. Gionta was down for some time but was able skate himself off the ice.

If you missed it, you can watch highlights from Saturday night’s game here:

What was your favorite part of the game? Was it the goals, the saves or the fights?

FYI: The highlight reel does not include the fight between McCarty and Clarkson, but you can see it here.

Man, the Devils are hurting for a starting goalie. If they do not do something soon, their season is over. Who is on a contract year this year and good? Because that’s what they need…

I wonder if the Hawks are still thinking about getting rid of the Bulin Wall.

i must say, i was one of those henny pennies about hossa joining the team. i wasn’t sure he would really deliver for us, especially with babcock breaking up datsyuk and hank. but… man, has he ever delivered, game in and game out. too early in the season for ‘mvp’ talk but it is good seeing a man like him earning his money from us.
