The Wings jump-started the 2009-10 season with a 3-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday night. Kris Draper opened the scoring with a marker at 9:36 in the second period on a rebound. Jamie Tardiff and Jeremy Williams added to the lead with tallies of their own. Netminder Jimmy Howard started the game and made six saves through the first half. Goalie Daniel Larsson entered midway through the contest, stopping 14 shots.
Justin Abdelkader notched an assist on Tardiff’s goal and the Detroit Free Press commented on his hustle throughout the game. MLive.com says he is ready to play in the NHL, but he will likely have to bide his time in Grand Rapids until next season.
