Around the Rink – February 7th Edition

We know that the most dedicated fans in the National Hockey League have a lot of questions. This blog post is dedicated to answering some of your most frequent queries in the realm of digital media.

Q: Where can I find a streaming broadcast of the game?
A: NHL GameCenter LIVE and the occasional live stream on Yahoo are the two legal ways of doing so. And while fans have gone out of their way to seek alternate measures, the United States Government recently cracked down on many live stream sites that our fans like to frequent.

Even if you can’t find a streaming telecast, the audio broadcast is always available, free of charge on NHL.com and the 97.1 The Ticket website.

Q: Why won’t Red Wings TV videos work on my mobile device or an iPad?
A: We have seen and heard your requests on this! Now all Red Wings TV videos including press conferences, interviews, Game Day with Ken Kal and features will be posted in a format friendly to iPad and mobile devices.

Q: Why did my post get deleted off of the Official Red Wings Facebook page?
A: Earlier this season, the Red Wings posted a statement on the information tab outlining our community standards. While we encourage fans to discuss, praise, even criticize the club, we draw the line at poor language and personal insults. We also do not accept promotion of brands not currently affiliated with the Wings on our Social Media sites.

Q: Which players and media members tweet?
A: Currently, no active members of the Red Wings are on Twitter. While there is no team policy in place that prevents our players from doing so, we won’t actively encourage an activity that is most successful when done organically. As far as media is concerned, fans should follow Trevor Thompson (@iamtrevort), as he will tweet during the FOX Sports Detroit broadcasts.

Q: What can we expect from the Wings going forward?
A: We would love to see our fans connect on a regional basis through live events, regional Facebook pages and at road games. We are also striving to bring you the latest in event information, team news and more exclusive access to the players.

These radio broadcasts on NHL.com… I’ve listened to them there before & have gone back and looked for them this year when the Red Wings game is blacked out on their gamecenter – but they seem to be gone. Has anyone else had luck with these? (btw, when you search for “radio,” the link actually takes you back to gamecenter, which only has the option to view)
