Around the Rink – February 14th Edition

Happy Valentine’s Day from Al and the entire Red Wings family!

Here is your quick glimpse across the Winged Wide Web.

  • Too good not to share! Here is some Valentine’s advice from Red Wing players. Did you know that Kronwall was romantic? Neither did we!
  • This weekend is Hockey Weekend Across America, presented by USA Hockey and Reebok. The Flames and Canadiens will also take part in the second Heritage Classic in Calgary.
  • Abel to Yzerman has a great wrap up of the weekend sweep against the Bruins, including the Chris Osgood pre-game ceremony.
  • Etched in Cold has a recap of what Mario Lemieux ‘meant’ to say, when he released his harsh statement over the weekend.
  • Peter Forsberg is retiring after a two-game comeback stint in Colorado.
  • Here is the latest installment of Michael Petrella’s awesome series on his road trip with the Wings.

We also had the chance to catch up with 1980 U.S. Olympic Team member Ken Morrow, who admitted that Kurt Russell’s Herb Brooks was dead-on. Check out the interview, then watch the speech that Murrow cites as one of the most inspirational moments in his team’s gold-medal run.
