We’ve got lots of links to share with you today.

This has been circling the various hockey blogs over the last few days, but I spotted it through On the Wings. Here is Mike Babcock some two decades ago in an epic shootout from the Castle Eden Cup.

In team news, two-time Hobey Baker finalist Gustav Nyquist has turned pro and will join the Grand Rapids Griffins for the remainder of their season.

University of Maine student Shaina Dennis also profiles Nyquist.

Via DetroitRedWings.com: With Chris Osgood sidelined, Joey MacDonald prepares to take on a bigger role.

There’s something about Earl. (Must see story!)

Wednesday’s Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Youth Skater of the Game wasn’t supposed to take a few extra laps, but in doing so, won over the sold-out crowd. He also made the front page of NHL.com and ESPN’s SportsCenter.

Nick Lidstrom had a street named after him in Novi, so we asked his teammates what they’d like to see named after them. Danny Cleary, who wasn’t on camera said, “I have a street and an arena named after me, what else do I need?”

  1. Justin says:

I was at the Wings/Leafs game on Saturday, and had the time of my life. The feeling of being a part of that crowd was something I’ve only felt while at Detroit playoff games. I really hope Gary Bettman realizes that original 6 matchups are the greatest games to be a part of, and hopefully allows these teams to play each other more often.
