Around the Rink – March 31st Edition

Let’s focus on the positive!

Today is Gordie Howe’s birthday. Happy Birthday Mr. Hockey!

When you have a game like last night’s 10-3 loss to St. Louis, there is an understanding that your fans want to vent. Surely that was understood in the dressing room when Nicklas Lidstrom said the team deserved to get booed. It was also understood in Social Media through numerous Facebook comments, Tweets, and thousands of clicks to video of the post-game press conference.

We all have our different ways of getting over such a game. For George Malik, there are YouTube videos and hockey cards. Yours truly opted for replaying the game on XBOX at 3AM.

Beards of War made the prom date comparison, while Winging it in Motown linked the box score to a Tolstoy story. Chris Hollis over at The Production Line dubbed it as a trap game.

And yet the sun still came out this morning. Maybe Henrik Zetterberg was right when he said that “you’ve just got to go home, forget about it, come back and regroup.”

P.S. If you haven’t checked out our ‘twenty straight’ micro site at, it is worth the click.

Say what you may about the game, but Henrik is right. You just gotta let it go and move on. It was a hard game to watch, but as hard as it was to watch, I’m hoping that it lit the fire that will carry them through the post-season. Your loyal fans are still behind you all. As stupid as it may sound, I lost sleep over it last night. My whole family is dedicated to being a fan of this amazing team. I have been for 15 years since I was 9. A game like this only makes us back you up more guys! Let’s get the Preds this weekend!
